Next, I managed to install Catalina on a spare volume on my MacBook Pro 8,2 by using dosdude’s Catalina Patcher. Try and download and it says that 10.15.6 is required but suggests you can still download an old version for your OS. It says that 10.15.6 is required and you have no other choice. Mojave with 10.5.10 installed on a Mac Pro 5,1 with a Radeon RX580 GPU (Sapphire Nitro+) Hopefully my tests below will answer the question of whether we can use 10.5 on anything lower than Catalina. Try downloading from the Purchased page without any FCP in the Applications folder. Would no application in the browser, what version downloads from the App Store. Could you zip the application and then move it to the trash.
